Bespoke Bathroom Rails to Improve Safety
Helena was finding it increasingly difficult to get on and off the toilet. The layout of her bathroom meant that standard grab rails and toilet frames could not be fitted safely, as an airing cupboard and nearby fixtures restricted the available space.
REMAP volunteers worked with the occupational therapist to install bespoke grab rails tailored to Helena’s bathroom. Following use, further adjustments were made to reposition one rail and shorten another to improve comfort during personal care.
The customised solution has made toilet transfers safer and more comfortable, demonstrating the value of adapting equipment to meet an individual’s needs.
